Michael P. Maddux

Michael P. Maddux has been a respected member of the Florida Bar since 1992, bringing over three decades of legal experience to his practice in criminal defense, personal injury, and civil rights. He began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit of Florida. He later served as an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor for the Florida Attorney General’s Office, giving him valuable insight into the justice system from both sides of the courtroom.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida State University and subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Law School. Since 1999, he has been Board Certified in Criminal Trial Practice by the Florida Bar—an achievement held by only a small percentage of Florida attorneys. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and all federal districts in Florida.

Michael has been deeply involved in the legal community, serving as a two-term president of the Hillsborough County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and as a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

He has presented on civil rights topics and moderated seminars on the collateral consequences of criminal charges. His dedication to justice extends to civil rights litigation, where he represents clients in cases involving misconduct or abuse by law enforcement, seeking accountability while respecting the essential role of police in society.

In addition to his trial practice, Michael P. Maddux has achieved hundreds of successful settlements in personal injury and wrongful death cases. Known for his integrity, compassion, and trial excellence, he is also actively involved in community service, serving as board president for The Timothy Initiative, an elder at his church, and a mentor in youth leadership programs.
