About
Kendall Coffey is a founding partner of Coffey Burlington, PL, and one of Florida’s most accomplished trial and appellate lawyers. He previously served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, the nation’s largest federal prosecution office at that time, where he oversaw thousands of criminal prosecutions and civil actions. Following his public service, Coffey returned to private practice, handling high-profile matters such as the Elian Gonzalez custody case and the 2000 U.S. Presidential Election Recount.
Coffey earned his B.S. with honors from the University of Florida before completing his J.D. with highest honors at the University of Florida School of Law, where he graduated first in his class. His academic achievements included serving at the top of his class and earning multiple distinctions for scholarship. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Florida, federal district courts in Florida, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fifth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits.
Coffey represents businesses, institutions, and individuals in commercial litigation, election law, government investigations, fraud and financial disputes, and international arbitration. He has secured major victories in federal and state courts, including precedent-setting election fraud cases, multi-million-dollar verdicts for South American financial institutions, and dismissals in complex criminal trials. His experience spans defending law firms in malpractice cases, representing insurers in RICO actions, and litigating international disputes involving airlines, banks, and public works contracts.
In addition to his courtroom practice, Kendall Coffey is a respected legal commentator and educator. He has appeared on major national and international networks, including CNN, MSNBC, Univision, and Telemundo, and serves as adjunct faculty at Florida International University College of Law.
