Michael Ackerman

Michael Ackerman is a litigation associate at Cantey Hanger LLP in Fort Worth, Texas. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, where he represents clients in a broad array of civil disputes. Michael has experience with general business and contract litigation, fiduciary duty claims, fraud, covenants not to compete, and personal injury and wrongful death matters. Michael earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review and participated in the Federal Appellate Litigation Clinic. He also holds a B.A. and B.S.Ed., both magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia.

Before joining Cantey Hanger LLP in 2020, Michael clerked for the Honorable John H. McBryde of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. This clerkship gave him deep insight into federal court procedures and sharpened his research and writing skills. He has successfully drafted dispositive motions and writs of mandamus and has represented clients in high-stakes litigation across Texas.

Michael Ackerman is licensed to practice in Texas and Georgia and is admitted to all U.S. District Courts in Texas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He also contributes to the legal community through CLE presentations and pro bono work. He has taught continuing legal education courses on Texas ethics rules and NIL (Name, Image & Likeness) developments, and provides volunteer legal services through Tarrant County Volunteer Attorney Services.
