Melissa Morales Fletcher has built a distinguished career in labor and employment law since entering the legal field in 1998. She has represented both public and private clients in complex employment litigation, covering areas such as workplace discrimination, civil rights violations, retaliation, and state and federal employment law claims. She is well known for her strategic advocacy and first-chair trial experience.
Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995. She then received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Texas Southern University Law School in 1998. Her dedication to excellence in the legal field is further demonstrated by her board certification in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Melissa’s legal career began as an Assistant City Attorney with the City of Dallas, where she moved from prosecutorial work to handling employment and labor matters for city officials and employees. After that, she served as counsel at several law firms, defending municipalities and employers in employment disputes, constitutional matters, and land use issues. She has also worked as trial counsel in civil litigation for major insurers.
Melissa has tried cases in both district and county courts and has represented clients in administrative law proceedings. With experience on both the employer and employee sides of workplace disputes, she offers strategic, practical guidance to help clients navigate complex employment law issues with clarity and confidence.
Melissa Morales Fletcher is admitted to practice before all Texas federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas and multiple local and minority bar associations, where she has held leadership positions. Her professional dedication has earned her recognition in publications like Texas Super Lawyers – Rising Stars Edition.
