Megan Coughlin

Megan Coughlin is a labor and employment attorney at Akerman LLP in West Palm Beach, Florida. She represents employers across a wide range of employment law matters, offering both strategic litigation defense and proactive legal counsel. Megan has successfully handled cases involving federal and state employment statutes, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FCRA, FLSA, and various whistleblower protections.

Megan earned her J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2014 and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Florida in 2010.

Megan defends employers at all stages of litigation and arbitration, while also guiding clients through settlement evaluations and legal strategy. She provides comprehensive compliance counseling on HR policies and regulatory matters related to hiring, termination, harassment, discrimination, accommodations, and wage and hour laws. In addition, she conducts workplace training and helps businesses create and update compliant employment handbooks and policies.

Before entering private practice, Megan served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jonathan D. Gerber and the Honorable Lori S. Rowe in Florida’s appellate courts, honing her legal research and writing skills and gaining invaluable insight into the judicial process.

Megan’s professional affiliations reflect her dedication to the legal and HR communities. She has served in leadership roles with the Society for Human Resource Management, Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the Junior League of the Palm Beaches. She is also active in civic leadership through the West Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce and the North Florida Land Trust.
