Matthew R. Doherty

Matthew R. Doherty is a partner with more than two decades of legal experience serving businesses and property owners. His practice focuses on real estate transactions and business litigation, serving clients in construction, real estate, and manufacturing. He is known for steady judgment, clear advice, and accountable project management.

Matthew earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2005. He completed his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, at Jamestown College in 2002. During law school, he served on the Executive Board of the Valparaiso University Law Review while building strong research skills.

While in law school, Matthew clerked for United States Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein. He later completed a one-year clerkship for the Honorable Carol Ronning Kapsner at the North Dakota Supreme Court before joining the firm in 2007, bringing strong analytical discipline to complex matters across business disputes.

Matthew’s practice centers on real estate transactions and business litigation for construction, real estate, and manufacturing clients. He often serves as outside general counsel, providing a single point of contact and accountability. This approach helps clients manage projects efficiently while addressing legal needs from start to finish with confidence.
