He represents people challenging convictions and other outcomes after criminal proceedings.
Daher earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Utah. His legal education and extensive litigation background support a practice requiring detailed review of trial records, legal research, appellate briefing, and analysis of constitutional and procedural issues. He is admitted in Texas and Missouri state courts, all four federal district courts in Texas, and the District of Colorado.
Daher handles direct appeals, Texas Article 11.07 habeas applications, and federal post-conviction writs. His work involves examining trial proceedings and court records to identify potential legal or constitutional issues that may support post-conviction relief. His broader background litigating both criminal and civil matters in state and federal courts provides experience with complex procedural questions and the different standards that apply at various stages of litigation and appellate review.
Matt Daher is also an author on Texas post-conviction law. His publications include Justice Lost, Justice Gained: How Five Texas Inmates Won Their 11.07 Appeals and a report examining inequality in the Texas criminal justice system. He has also written about federal review of Texas convictions and challenges to sex-crime convictions. His practice combines appellate litigation, legal research, and writing focused on criminal appeals and post-conviction remedies.
