Mark D. Brent is a respected family law attorney with deep roots in Aurora, Illinois. He has been practicing law since 1991, with a strong focus on family and domestic relations law since 1997. His legal career includes handling various family law matters, including complex custody issues and interstate child removal cases. Known for being a strong and effective advocate, Mark brings decades of courtroom experience to every case and works with determination to protect his clients’ rights.
Mark earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1991 and holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois, graduating with honors, including Phi Beta Kappa and Gold Key. His academic excellence laid a strong foundation for a distinguished legal career.
Mark D. Brent has spent years representing clients in high-conflict family law cases. He has argued in front of all Illinois State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and has even been admitted temporarily in other states. Mark has also served as chair of the Kane County Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Committee and remains an active member of several bar associations.
Beyond his courtroom practice, Mark is a published legal author. He co‑authored Strategies for Family Law in Illinois, a practical resource for family law attorneys, and wrote Divorce Proceedings in Illinois: What You Need to Know, a plain‑English guide designed to help individuals understand the Illinois divorce process.
Mark is committed to community service and was awarded the 2015 Pro Bono Award by the Kane County Bar Foundation for his ongoing work with Prairie State Legal Services. He continues to offer free legal help to those in need each month.
