Malachi Brennan is a partner at SRH Law in Burlington, Vermont. His practice focuses on environmental law, energy and public utility law, civil litigation, and strategic counsel and communications. Brennan advises clients on land-use permitting, Act 250 compliance, local zoning, regulatory matters, and complex disputes. He represents individuals, businesses, public utilities, and renewable energy developers before administrative bodies and courts, helping clients navigate permitting requirements and resolve legal challenges connected to development and infrastructure projects.

Brennan earned his J.D. summa cum laude from Vermont Law School in 2019 and his B.S. in Forestry from the University of Vermont in 2010. While in law school, he interned for Judge Peter W. Hall of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Before entering law, he worked as a research forester throughout the western United States and founded a small forestry company in Oregon, bringing practical scientific and business experience to his legal work.

Brennan handles land-use and environmental matters before local administrative boards, the Civil and Environmental Divisions of the Vermont Superior Court, and the Vermont Supreme Court. He has helped clients secure permits for affordable housing developments, defended infrastructure-related environmental permits on appeal, and guided businesses and individuals through Vermont development requirements. His energy practice includes renewable energy permitting, utility rate proceedings, regulatory matters before the Vermont Public Utility Commission, and work involving energy infrastructure programs.

Malachi Brennan previously served as a Deputy State’s Attorney in Washington County, where he tried cases both as lead counsel and as part of trial teams. He is admitted to practice in Vermont and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont. His combined background in litigation, forestry, environmental regulation, and public utility law supports a practical approach to complex matters involving development, renewable energy, land use, and regulatory compliance.
