Amanda Lucas Thelen

Amanda Lucas Thelen is a partner whose Bakersfield practice focuses on estate planning and transactional law. She advises individuals and families on wills, trusts, trust administration, probate matters, and related tax planning. Her practice also includes agriculture, healthcare, real estate, and business and corporate matters. Drawing on her local roots and knowledge of Kern County, she helps clients develop practical legal strategies that reflect their goals, concerns, and values.

Ms. Thelen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 2006. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, cum laude, from California State University, Bakersfield, in 2003. Her business education supports her work on estate planning and transactional matters, while her legal training provides a strong foundation for analyzing complex issues, preparing effective documents, and advising clients on long-term planning decisions.

Ms. Thelen previously practiced law in Sacramento and Los Angeles before returning to Kern County in 2014. Before concentrating on estate planning and transactional work, she served as a civil litigation attorney representing physicians and other healthcare providers across the Central Valley, Central Coast, and Southern California. That trial and litigation experience gives her insight into potential disputes and helps her structure plans, contracts, and transactions with future risks in mind.

Amanda Lucas Thelen also assists clients with forming, managing, and dissolving business entities. She prepares and reviews contracts for business and real estate transactions, represents clients in negotiations, and offers strategic advice on varied legal concerns. She serves as a director of the Kern County Bar Association and belongs to its Women’s Lawyers Section and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Her work combines careful planning, practical judgment, and a commitment to clear, client-focused service.
