Lyle D. Washowich is the chief operating officer (Western Region) at Burns White and co-chair of the firm’s Banking and Financial Services and Cybersecurity practice groups. He also chairs the firm’s Complex and Commercial Litigation, General Litigation, and Business Practices groups. With extensive experience in civil, commercial, and complex litigation, he represents clients across the financial services, business, insurance, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing industries.
Lyle earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1999, where he was associate articles editor of the Law Review. He completed his B.A. in 1996 from Allegheny College, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the United States Supreme Court, multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals, and various federal district courts.
Lyle’s financial services litigation practice includes representing banks, investment firms, and financial advisors in contract disputes, fiduciary duty claims, and regulatory matters. He has defended clients in class actions, injunctions, and complex litigation involving the Uniform Commercial Code.
Lyle advises businesses on commercial disputes, contract claims, and professional malpractice issues. His cybersecurity practice includes data breach investigations, compliance with federal and state privacy laws, and litigation defense for cybersecurity-related claims.
Recognized for his legal expertise, Lyle has been included in Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation (2021-2025) and named one of the 20 People to Know in Law by the Pittsburgh Business Times (2021).
