Kristen H. McMullen

Kristen H. McMullen serves as Of Counsel in Akerman’s West Palm Beach office, concentrating her practice on insurance defense and litigation. She represents insurance carriers and their insureds in first-party and third-party matters, including coverage disputes, breach of contract, premises liability, property damage, auto negligence, and other general liability claims.

Kristen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in 2008 and subsequently obtained her Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 2010, graduating with an International Law Certificate. Her academic training prepared her for a litigation-focused career where she now advises clients from the pre-litigation stage through trial.

Throughout her career, Kristen has achieved favorable results in complex insurance disputes. She has obtained summary judgments and defense verdicts in high-stakes coverage litigation, including cases involving conditions precedent and statutory resolution offers. She also counsels clients on civil remedy notice complaints and attorney fee disputes, ensuring comprehensive guidance in challenging matters.

In addition to her litigation practice, Kristen is an active leader and contributor to the legal community. She has served in various bar associations, including the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association, and the F. Malcolm Cunningham Sr. Bar Association. She has also held leadership positions such as President of the Tallahassee Barristers Association and continues to support diversity and mentorship initiatives.
