Leopold Z. Sher

Leopold Z. Sher is the co-managing member of Sher Garner Cahill Richter Klein & Hilbert, L.L.C., and a distinguished business attorney with decades of experience. His practice includes commercial real estate, business and finance law, creditors’ rights, litigation, bankruptcy, disaster recovery, arbitration, mediation, and secured finance. Over his career, Sher has advised clients ranging from lenders and developers to major corporations, guiding complex projects, financings, acquisitions, and dispute resolutions.

Sher earned his B.A., cum laude, in political science from Tulane University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. from Tulane Law School, where he served on the Moot Court. Admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1976, he is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Sher is a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers, and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He also serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and teaches Contract Drafting as an adjunct professor at Tulane Law School. His professional leadership includes serving on the boards of national and international real estate and finance organizations, reflecting his prominence in the field.

Widely recognized for his achievements, Leopold Z. Sher has been honored in Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, and Lawdragon 500. He has been voted “Lawyer of the Year” in multiple categories, inducted into the Lawdragon Hall of Fame, and recognized for both litigation and transactional excellence.
