Kevin P. Blodgett is a Shareholder in the Litigation Department at Smith Hulsey & Busey. His legal practice centers on commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, and environmental law. He represents both businesses and individuals in complex civil disputes across Florida and the southeastern United States.
Kevin earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School, where he received the Haber J. McCarthy Environmental Law Award. He holds a B.S. from Swarthmore College and Trinity University.
Kevin is admitted to practice in all three U.S. District Courts in Florida—Northern, Middle, and Southern—as well as in The Florida Bar. His litigation experience includes trial and appellate levels in both state and federal court. He also represents clients in adversarial administrative proceedings, including challenges to state rules and bid protests before the Florida Department of Administrative Hearings.
Before joining Smith Hulsey & Busey, Kevin worked with both public and private clients on a wide range of civil and commercial matters, such as business torts, contract enforcement, professional negligence, and major personal injury cases. His ability to navigate complex legal issues has earned him respect across the legal community.
Kevin has achieved notable courtroom victories, including a $43 million judgment in a fiduciary breach case involving two biotech firms. He has represented lenders in major foreclosure actions and defended professionals in high-stakes construction and design cases. He also protected public interests by securing a favorable settlement in a dispute involving a student housing project at Florida State University.
Kevin’s work has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America as “One to Watch” in both Commercial and Environmental Litigation. He was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and featured in Jacksonville Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” and Jacksonville Magazine’s “Ones to Watch.”
