Kevin L. Russell

Kevin L. Russell is a partner at Chernoff Vilhauer with over 25 years of experience representing clients in complex intellectual property matters. His practice includes patent prosecution, IP litigation, portfolio management, licensing, and strategic counseling for businesses navigating today’s innovation-driven markets.

Kevin earned his Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University, equipping him with a strong technical background essential for high-level patent and technology law work.

Admitted to the Oregon State Bar and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Kevin is also authorized to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His clients range from startups to multinational corporations involved in acquisitions, IP strategy, and enforcement.

Throughout his career, Kevin has advised companies on acquiring and managing extensive patent and trademark portfolios. He has led due diligence efforts for mergers and acquisitions involving significant IP assets and negotiated numerous licensing and technology agreements across a broad range of industries.

A respected member of the legal community, Kevin served on the Oregon State Bar’s Patent and Trademark Section Executive Committee and maintains active memberships in the Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Patent Law Association, Federal Circuit Bar Association, and other professional groups.
