Julie Nemecek is the founder of The Nemecek Firm, Ltd., based in Columbus, Ohio, and brings over 20 years of dedicated experience in immigration law. Since 2010, her firm has focused on delivering compassionate, respectful, and detail-driven legal services to individuals navigating the complex U.S. immigration system. She is widely recognized for her advocacy work and her strong commitment to educating clients so they can clearly understand their legal rights and immigration options.
Nemecek earned her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2003. She also holds a B.B.A. from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business (1999), and studied foreign languages at National Taiwan Normal University (1997–1998).
Throughout her career, Nemecek has handled nearly every area of immigration law, including family-based and employment-based immigration, asylum, DACA, TPS, deportation defense, and naturalization. Her impact extends beyond the courtroom: she has led national advocacy campaigns to stop unjust deportations, most notably a high-profile effort to protect Black Mauritanian refugees from removal. This work drew international attention and was featured in Netflix’s documentary Living Undocumented.

Julie Nemecek speaks English and Mandarin Chinese and is admitted to the Ohio Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She holds memberships in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Columbus Bar Association, and the National LGBT Bar Association.
