Matthew R. Porter is a dedicated attorney who focuses on tax controversy, international taxation, and U.S. immigration law. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Management from Ohio Wesleyan University. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. He later pursued an LL.M. in Taxation from the same institution. During law school, he earned CALI Awards in three advanced tax law courses for achieving the highest grades.
Matthew began his legal career at a prominent immigration law firm in Columbus, Ohio. There, he helped clients with a variety of visa and citizenship matters, including work visas, family-based immigration, and naturalization. He later transitioned to a national law firm, where he worked on IRS disputes, including audits, appeals, penalty abatements, and tax litigation. He has represented clients before several courts, including the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Matthew supports clients with complex tax matters and cross-border compliance. He also handles cases involving innocent spouse relief and international tax reporting. His immigration practice includes assisting foreign nationals with employment-based and family-based visas. His goal is always to simplify the process and provide effective legal strategies.

He maintains active involvement in the legal community, serving on tax and immigration law committees.
