About
Joycelyn Stevenson is a respected attorney with extensive experience in labor and employment litigation, workplace investigations, and policy training. She counsels businesses on HR compliance, employee discipline, contract matters, and risk assessments. Joycelyn has guided small and multinational companies through litigation, mediations, and federal and state employment law claims.
Joycelyn earned her B.A. from Howard University in 1998, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and making the Dean’s List. She received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2001. While in law school, she served as the music notes editor for the Journal of Entertainment Law & Practice and was active on the Moot Court Board.
Joycelyn has managed employment matters related to the FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, FLSA, and various Tennessee labor laws. She frequently advises on noncompetition agreements, workplace handbooks, and HR policies. Joycelyn also leads training programs for employees, boards, and executives on legal compliance and workplace conduct.
Joycelyn has served in many leadership roles, including president of the Nashville Bar Association and president of AgeWell Middle Tennessee. She has been a commissioner for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and a board trustee for the Nashville Bar Foundation. Her work in legal education and bar leadership has impacted thousands of legal professionals across the state.
Joycelyn Stevenson continues to lead with integrity and purpose, helping clients navigate complex employment law challenges while promoting inclusive and legally sound workplaces.
Her contributions have been widely recognized. She has been named to The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Nashville Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar.” She has received multiple awards, including the Women of Influence Award and the Young Professional Leadership Award.
