Joshua R. Goodbaum is a dedicated employment lawyer known for guiding workers through discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and workplace contract issues. He has secured significant results for clients, including multiple seven-figure sexual harassment settlements, and has handled cases across many Connecticut industries. His approach is focused on clear strategy, strong advocacy, and real-world solutions.

Joshua earned his degree in history from Yale University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. After college, he worked in Chicago before attending Harvard Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude. At Harvard, he served as a Supervising Editor of the Harvard Law Review and Co-Chair of the Public Interest Auction, later clerking for Judge Neil M. Gorsuch on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Joshua’s extensive employment law practice includes discrimination matters involving race, sex, disability, age, religion, pregnancy, sexual orientation, marital status, and national origin. Joshua has also handled wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, retaliation claims, and complex non-compete and restrictive-covenant matters. His work includes negotiating separation agreements for employees and executives, ranging from modest packages to multimillion-dollar agreements.

Joshua has received major recognition for his work, including four “Lawyer of the Year” honors from The Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Employment Law – Individuals and Litigation – Labor & Employment. He has been recognized by Connecticut SuperLawyers since 2015, listed by Lawdragon as one of the Nation’s 500 Leading Plaintiff Employment Lawyers, named a “New Leader of the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune, and rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

Joshua R. Goodbaum continues to support the legal community through leadership roles, including service on the Connecticut Bar Association’s House of Delegates, Co-Chair of its Federal Practice Section, and past Chair of its Labor & Employment Law Section. He also teaches Trial Practice at Yale Law School and contributes to multiple boards and committees that advance civil rights and strengthen access to justice.
