About
Joshua J. Bruckerhoff is a partner at Reid Collins & Tsai, where he represents bankruptcy trustees, hedge funds, and offshore liquidators in complex commercial litigation across the U.S. He appears in both state and federal courts and is especially known for pursuing claims against directors and officers, law firms, auditors, financial institutions, and fraudulent transfer recipients.
Josh earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 2007, where he served as a Notes Editor for the Texas Law Review and clerked for the Texas Third Court of Appeals. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004 with a B.A. in History and Political Science.
Josh has handled high-profile, precedent-setting cases. He developed legal arguments that led to a major victory in the U.S. Supreme Court case Merit Management Group v. FTI Consulting, which reshaped the scope of the Bankruptcy Code’s Section 546(e) safe harbor, enabling broader recovery rights for trustees.
Josh’s practice spans U.S. and international jurisdictions, especially in Chapter 15, cross-border insolvency cases. He has represented the liquidators or litigation trusts in major financial matters involving Bear Stearns, Stanford International Bank, ICP Strategic Credit Income Fund, and Adeptus Health. His work has also involved legal malpractice suits against law firms for negligent drafting, missed deadlines, overbilling, and flawed legal advice in regulatory matters.
Josh is admitted to practice in Texas, the United States Supreme Court, all federal district courts in Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Josh has been recognized as one of the 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers by Lawdragon and is featured in Benchmark Litigation and Super Lawyers. He is also a frequent speaker and writer on fraud litigation, cross-border clawbacks, and bankruptcy law.
Known for his strategic mindset and innovative arguments, Joshua J. Bruckerhoff stands out as a leader in high-stakes financial litigation and complex bankruptcy-related cases.
