John Wesley Hall is a nationally recognized criminal defense attorney with more than five decades of experience representing individuals in complex criminal matters. His career has encompassed virtually every type of criminal case, from white-collar investigations to violent crime and constitutional challenges, earning him a reputation as a relentless advocate in both trial and appellate courts.

Hall is a graduate of Hendrix College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, and the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1973. Since then, he has been admitted to practice in Arkansas, the District of Columbia, Tennessee, Nevada, and New York, as well as numerous federal courts.

Hall has argued twice before the United States Supreme Court and has appeared in several federal circuit courts and state supreme courts. His extensive appellate background includes more than 350 appeals, while his trial practice spans over 350 jury trials. His experience is further reflected in more than 800 citations in cases and legal publications.

A former deputy prosecuting attorney, Hall has focused his career on defending constitutional rights, particularly in areas involving the Fourth Amendment and prosecutorial misconduct. He is the long-time author of Search and Seizure and Professional Responsibility in Criminal Defense Practice, two authoritative treatises relied upon by lawyers nationwide.

Hall’s leadership within the legal community is distinguished. He served as the 50th President of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and received NACDL’s Robert C. Heeney Award for distinguished service. He is also a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and has consistently been recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers.
