About
John R. Gulash, widely known as Bob, is the founding partner of Gulash & Associates and one of Connecticut’s most experienced trial lawyers. Since beginning his legal career in 1976, he has built a reputation as a formidable advocate in criminal defense, civil litigation, and administrative proceedings. His extensive trial record and decades of practice make him a trusted and highly respected figure in the Connecticut legal community.
Mr. Gulash earned his J.D. from Stetson University School of Law before joining the Office of the Public Defender as an Assistant Public Defender in Bridgeport. In 1981, he transitioned into private practice, founding his own firm where he focused on criminal defense while also handling civil rights, wrongful death, and administrative matters. Over his career, he has tried more than two hundred jury cases in state and federal courts and argued dozens of appeals, including numerous high-profile cases.
Beyond criminal defense, Mr. Gulash has represented clients before disciplinary boards, health and education agencies, and motor vehicle hearings. He has advised and defended clients through all stages of the legal process, including pre-arrest investigations, trial, mediations, post-trial proceedings, and pardon applications. His litigation skills extend to civil rights and wrongful death cases, where he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants with equal determination and skill.
John R. Gulash’s dedication to the profession extends outside the courtroom. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served on numerous committees improving Connecticut’s courts, including the Judicial Performance Evaluation Program Advisory Panel and the Code of Evidence Oversight Committee. Recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 1991 and consistently ranked among Connecticut’s top defense attorneys, he remains a sought-after lecturer and a leader in trial advocacy.
