Edward J. Gavin

Edward J. Gavin, Esq., is a highly respected attorney with over three decades of experience representing clients in criminal defense, civil litigation, municipal labor law, and complex administrative matters. He is known as a skilled trial lawyer who has argued before the Connecticut Supreme Court, Appellate Court, and federal courts. His practice covers criminal defense, white-collar cases, medical negligence, DUI/DWI, wrongful death, and education law, earning him recognition as one of Connecticut’s leading advocates.

Mr. Gavin received his B.S. from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and earned his J.D. from the University of Bridgeport School of Law. Since his admission to the Connecticut Bar in 1990, he has also been admitted to practice before the New York Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His extensive admissions reflect his capability to handle complex cases at every level of the legal system.

Mr. Gavin’s leadership and service to the legal profession are extensive. He is a past president of the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, has served on the Connecticut Bar Examining Committee and Criminal Practice Commission, and is active with the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association. He has been named a Connecticut and New England Super Lawyer every year since 2006 and has been consistently ranked among the Top 50 Lawyers in Connecticut by Thomson Reuters. He also holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell for over 15 years.
