John L. Fay

John L. Fay is an experienced Attorney at Law who has devoted his career to family law and domestic relations matters. Raised in the Chicagoland area, he has spent decades guiding individuals and families through challenging legal situations. Since being admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1979, he has focused on providing steady and practical representation in sensitive family disputes.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1975 from Northern Illinois University. He then completed his Juris Doctor in 1978 at Lewis University College of Law, DeKalb, Illinois. After finishing his legal education, he began practicing law and built a strong foundation in advocacy and negotiation that continues to shape his work today.

John started his professional path as a general practitioner, handling a broad range of legal issues. In 1985, he chose to concentrate his efforts on family law. Since that time, he has handled matters involving custody, visitation, child support, maintenance, and property division. His practice areas also include divorce, complex asset divorce, prenuptial agreements, parenting issues, mediation/low-conflict divorce, and orders of protection. As a Family Law Certified Mediator, he helps families seek workable solutions that reduce conflict whenever possible.

John is regarded by fellow attorneys as a thorough and assertive advocate. Clients appreciate his responsiveness and compassionate approach during difficult and emotional legal proceedings. He is affiliated with the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Du Page County Bar Association, and Will County Bar Association, and he serves on the family law domestic relations committees within these associations.
