John J. Rock

John J. Rock is a founding principal at Rock Fusco & Connelly, LLC in Chicago, Illinois. With decades of experience, Mr. Rock concentrates his legal practice on commercial litigation, real estate matters, and municipal law. He represents both individuals and corporate clients in a wide range of complex legal issues, including employment disputes, construction litigation, civil rights defense, and property tax matters.

Mr. Rock earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and holds a B.S. in Business/Finance with a minor in Decision Sciences from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Mr. Rock’s legal background includes high-stakes litigation across state, federal, and appellate courts. As a former Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County, he prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases and handled appeals for the State of Illinois. He now brings that litigation depth to the private sector, representing clients in jury trials, bench trials, and administrative hearings, with notable success in precedent-setting appellate cases.

Mr. Rock’s real estate practice includes advising on acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and tax-related incentives. He also assists municipalities and governmental entities with matters such as eminent domain, labor and employment disputes, and tax increment financing. He is experienced in representing condominium associations and advising them on compliance with the Illinois Condominium Property Act.

Mr. Rock is admitted to practice in Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

In addition to his legal work, John J. Rock is deeply involved in the legal and civic communities. He serves as a Commissioner of the Illinois Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer annually from 2007 through 2025. He was also named one of the “40 Attorneys Under 40 in Illinois to Watch.” Mr. Rock is respected for his skill in navigating complex legal challenges and his dedication to providing strategic, results-driven representation.
