John F. Carberry is a Principal in the Litigation Group at Cummings & Lockwood LLC, based in the Stamford office. With more than thirty-five years of experience, he represents clients in complex disputes in state and federal courts, including bankruptcy court. His practice focuses on business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy law and creditors’ rights, commercial real estate matters, and trusts and estates litigation. He is known for providing practical strategies and strong courtroom advocacy to protect his clients’ interests.
John earned his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School and his B.A. in Economics from Fordham University. His academic training in law and economics gives him a strong foundation for handling financial disputes and complex commercial matters. His education equips him to analyze detailed records, understand business structures, and present clear legal arguments in court. This background continues to guide his thoughtful and disciplined approach to litigation.
John has helped individuals, businesses, fiduciaries, and creditors resolve challenging legal disputes throughout his career. He appears before trial and appellate courts and is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York, as well as multiple United States District Courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In addition to representing clients, he serves the Connecticut Superior Court as a Special Master, Attorney Trial Referee, Arbitrator, and Fact Finder, helping parties reach fair outcomes.
