John B. Drummy

John B. Drummy is a senior partner at Kightlinger & Gray in Indianapolis, Indiana, and serves on the firm’s Management Committee and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Board. With more than 30 years of experience, his practice includes appellate representation, insurance coverage and bad faith, professional liability, securities litigation, class action defense, employment law, business law, and data security and privacy matters. Drummy helps clients address complex disputes at both the trial and appellate levels.

Drummy earned his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law–Indianapolis in 1985 and a B.S., cum laude, from Creighton University in 1982. He was admitted to practice in Indiana in 1985 and is also admitted before federal district and appellate courts, including the Sixth and Seventh Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court. His education and extensive litigation background support his work analyzing complex legal issues and developing effective appellate strategies.

Drummy has handled hundreds of appeals during his career, with nearly 100 resulting in published opinions. His appellate experience also supports his trial practice by helping clients preserve legal issues for review and evaluate whether an appeal is appropriate. He frequently writes and presents on appellate practice, insurance coverage, bad faith litigation, and related legal developments.

He serves as Vice Chair of Publications for the International Association of Defense Counsel’s Appellate Practice Committee and is active in organizations including the Defense Research Institute, Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, Seventh Circuit Bar Association, and Indiana State Bar Association.
