Jesus Sanchelima

Jesus Sanchelima is a Registered Patent Attorney with more than four decades of experience in intellectual property. He was among the first Hispanic attorneys registered in this field in the United States. Since 1977, he has built a distinguished career advocating for clients in patents, patent appeals, litigation, prosecution, and trademark matters.

Jesus completed his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Florida, which provided him with a strong technical foundation for patent law. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. His combined background in engineering and law allows him to advise clients effectively on complex intellectual property concerns.

Jesus is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also an active member of respected professional organizations, including the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Inter-American Association of Industrial Property (ASIPI), the Cuban-American Bar Association (CABA), and the International Trademark Association (INTA). These memberships reflect his dedication to staying engaged in the evolving landscape of intellectual property law.

Jesus has contributed to the field as an author, publishing articles in the Trademark Reporter that discuss important issues surrounding intellectual property rights. He also shares his knowledge as an adjunct professor at Florida International University, teaching the next generation of lawyers. His fluency in both English and Spanish allows him to serve a wide range of clients, making his practice accessible to diverse communities.
