Jay S. Norton brings over 35 years of trusted criminal law experience. He is highly respected for his honest approach, strong trial skills, and commitment to fairness. Jay began his career at Bexar County Legal Aid, where he helped people in need of skilled legal support.
Jay first earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from St. Mary’s University. He then completed his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University – School of Law. His education laid the foundation for the success and leadership he would later achieve in his legal career.
In 1986, Jay began his legal career in the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, where he tried hundreds of state and federal cases over six years. Leveraging his proven track record as a prosecutor, he later moved into private practice, now focusing on defending clients in complex and high-stakes criminal cases.
In 2014, Jay returned to public service following a new election in Bexar County. He rose to the role of Section Chief in the Criminal Trial Division. In this leadership role, he supervised, trained, and mentored many Assistant Criminal District Attorneys assigned to felony trial courts.
Jay has extensive experience with all types of criminal offenses, from minor charges to major felony cases under Texas law. His courtroom work has helped many clients facing serious legal challenges, always focusing on protecting their rights and futures.
