John T. Hunter

John T. Hunter is a seasoned criminal defense attorney and co-founder of Hunter, Lane & Jampala PLLC. Based in Texas, John has dedicated his practice to criminal trial litigation, appeals, and post-conviction writs of habeas corpus. He is known for handling complex cases ranging from capital murder to federal drug conspiracies with precision and tenacity.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Texas in 2008. He later pursued his Juris Doctor at St. Mary’s University School of Law, graduating in 2012. During law school, he clerked for the prestigious firm of Goldstein, Goldstein, and Hilley, where he began honing his skills in high-stakes criminal defense.

John began his career as a sole practitioner before becoming a senior associate at his former firm in 2016. In 2019, he co-founded Hunter, Lane & Jampala PLLC, where he represents clients in a wide array of criminal cases. He has argued in federal courts across Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and has submitted briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court, reflecting the depth and breadth of his appellate experience.

John T. Hunter is a board member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and serves as the incoming president of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
