Mr. McHugh earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Florida in 1972. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University in 1978. Further enriching his legal foundation, he pursued postgraduate studies at the prestigious London School of Economics, gaining international legal insight that informs his practice today.
Mr. McHugh’s career spans both the U.S. Attorney’s Office and district attorney roles. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney and later as City Chief for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in El Paso. Earlier, he prosecuted cases as an Assistant District Attorney. This diverse prosecutorial and defense background enables him to approach criminal cases with strategic balance and effectiveness.
