Jay S. Adkins is a Minnesota-based criminal defense attorney whose practice is dedicated to litigation, with a strong focus on DWI and related criminal matters. Jay earned a B.S. from St. Cloud State University before completing his J.D. at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. During law school, he served as a certified student attorney with the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office, where he gained valuable insight into prosecutorial decision-making and trial strategy. This experience strengthened his ability to anticipate opposing arguments and develop effective, well-prepared criminal defenses for clients.

Before joining Godwin Adkins, Jay practiced with private law firms in the Twin Cities, concentrating on DWI defense, criminal litigation, and appeals. His work includes defending clients in implied consent proceedings, criminal forfeiture matters, expungements, and driver’s license challenges. His understanding of alcohol testing science allows him to closely examine evidence, challenge procedures, and identify weaknesses in the prosecution’s case.
