Clark earned his B.S.B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas in 1966 before completing his J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1969. While in law school, he served as Case Note Editor of the Law Review, demonstrating early leadership in legal scholarship. He was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1969 and is a long-standing member of the Arkansas Bar Association, Pulaski County Bar Association, and Phi Alpha Delta.
