Chad J. Hammons

Chad J. Hammons is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group at Jones Walker LLP with a focus on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy law, shopping center disputes, agribusiness litigation, and general commercial litigation. He is board-certified in creditors’ rights law and represents lenders, landlords, and suppliers in state and federal courts across Mississippi. His work includes collections, foreclosures, receiverships, evictions, and bankruptcy litigation in both consumer and commercial cases.

Chad earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as Editor of The Solicitor, was a Moot Court Board member, and a finalist in the 1994 Oral Advocacy Competition. Before law school, he completed an M.A. in Sociology and a B.A., magna cum laude, in History, English, and Sociology at the University of Mississippi. His undergraduate achievements included the Ella Somerville Award for Creative Writing and the Julien Tatum Award for Sociology.

Chad is a seasoned bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney with deep experience representing agricultural lenders, suppliers, and other creditors in Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 matters. He routinely advocates for lenders in contested bankruptcy proceedings and adversary actions, helping protect and enforce their rights in complex financial disputes. Chad also has a strong litigation background in consumer finance, construction disputes, civil forfeiture, and entertainment-related matters, giving clients a versatile trial lawyer with broad courtroom experience. Known for his strategic advocacy and comprehensive understanding of debtor-creditor law, Chad delivers practical, business-focused solutions in high-stakes cases.
