About
Chad J. Hammons is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group at Jones Walker LLP with a focus on creditors’ rights, bankruptcy law, shopping center disputes, agribusiness litigation, and general commercial litigation. He is board-certified in creditors’ rights law and represents lenders, landlords, and suppliers in state and federal courts across Mississippi. His work includes collections, foreclosures, receiverships, evictions, and bankruptcy litigation in both consumer and commercial cases.
Chad earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as Editor of The Solicitor, was a Moot Court Board member, and a finalist in the 1994 Oral Advocacy Competition. Before law school, he completed an M.A. in Sociology and a B.A., magna cum laude, in History, English, and Sociology at the University of Mississippi. His undergraduate achievements included the Ella Somerville Award for Creative Writing and the Julien Tatum Award for Sociology.
Chad has extensive experience representing agricultural lenders and suppliers, as well as creditors in matters under Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. He regularly represents lenders in contested bankruptcy matters and adversary proceedings. In addition, he has litigated consumer finance cases, construction disputes, civil forfeitures, and entertainment-related litigation, providing clients with broad courtroom experience. His reputation is marked by strategic advocacy and in-depth knowledge of debtor-creditor law.
