J. Mark Debro is a respected Alabama attorney with over two decades of experience representing clients in complex legal disputes. Beginning his practice in 1999, he has handled trials in both state and federal courts across Alabama. His work spans construction, insurance defense, personal injury, civil rights litigation, and subrogation cases.
Mark earned his B.A. in 1991 from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville before completing his J.D. in 1999 at Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham. His strong academic foundation, paired with his extensive legal practice, has positioned him as a trusted advocate. His admissions include the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and multiple U.S. District Courts in Alabama.
Mark’s career includes serving as a former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Huntsville, where he gained invaluable municipal law experience. In addition, he has contributed to the legal community as a stand-in Municipal Judge and Municipal Prosecutor. His broad involvement in appellate practice, professional liability, wrongful death, malpractice, mediation, and premises liability underscores his diverse capabilities.
Mark maintains active memberships in the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Alabama State Bar Association, and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. He has also held leadership roles within the Huntsville Bar Association, serving as both Past-President and Past-Treasurer. Recognized for his professional excellence, he was named among The National Black Lawyers Top 100 and is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Mark also dedicates time to civic engagement, serving on the Board of Directors for The Schools Foundation of Huntsville, Madison County, and Madison City. He is a lifetime member of the Alabama A&M University National Alumni Association and remains active in the Huntsville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc., supporting the Kappa Scholarship Foundation.
