About
Imoh E. Akpan is a seasoned litigator with nearly two decades of experience handling complex civil cases. His practice focuses on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, negligent security, civil rights, and product liability. He has tried over 15 jury trials and 250 bench trials, often representing clients in high-stakes commercial motor vehicle cases.
Imoh earned a B.S. in Neurobiology and Cognitive Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002 and later obtained his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2006. During law school, he served as managing editor of the Intellectual Property Law Journal and worked as a student attorney for the Baltimore City Office of the Public Defender.
Imoh has led more than 20 rapid response investigations and regularly deposes expert witnesses, including medical professionals and accident reconstruction experts. His extensive knowledge spans the transportation, retail, hospitality, and construction sectors, where he has defended clients in both state and federal courts across Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Imoh brings significant appellate experience to his practice, having clerked for the Hon. Inez Smith Reid and led over 10 appeals, including matters before the Appellate Court of Maryland and the Maryland Supreme Court. His commitment to litigation excellence is matched by his focus on strategic outcomes for insurers, corporations, and public entities.
Imoh actively supports diversity initiatives in the legal field. He chairs the Diversity Committee of the Defense Research Institute and serves on the Diversity Task Force. He also co-chaired the gala for the Fannie Angelos Program for Academic Excellence and continues to support programs that help minority students enter and succeed in law school.
