David B. Block

David B. Block is a veteran attorney in Butler Snow’s Labor and Employment group with over 30 years of experience guiding employers through legal risks and complex workplace challenges. His practice covers federal and state litigation, risk management, and strategic compliance advising across industries.

David earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as Developmental Editor of the Alabama Law Review. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas. His academic foundation supports his deep understanding of labor law and regulatory compliance.

David represents clients nationwide in employment law, trademark disputes, premises liability, commercial litigation, and serious personal injury cases. He regularly counsels employers on OSHA compliance, FMLA obligations, wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination policies, and also handles non-compete agreements and trade secret protection matters.

David also works closely with higher education institutions, including HBCUs, on employment, litigation, and Title IX matters. His guidance supports colleges in navigating the evolving legal landscape of faculty and student issues.

David counsels companies in manufacturing, distribution, defense, and aerospace, helping them manage challenges involving workplace safety, immigration, and government contract compliance. His clients rely on his insights across legal, operational, and regulatory fronts.

David also serves as a mediator, helping parties resolve outside of court.
