About

Francis J. Giantomasi is a Roseland, New Jersey real estate attorney and member who has more than four decades of experience. He advises developers, property owners, investors, and public entities on acquisitions, sales, development, commercial transactions, redevelopment, zoning, tax abatements, and Chancery litigation. He has also argued matters before the New Jersey Appellate Division and New Jersey Supreme Court, helping clients address complex approvals, disputes, and project risks.

Giantomasi earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1979 and his B.A. from St. Peter’s College in 1976. He later received Seton Hall Law’s Distinguished Graduate recognition in 2025. He also served as a law clerk to Essex County Assignment Judge Arthur J. Blake. His education and judicial experience strengthened his legal analysis, writing, and understanding of court procedures involving real estate, government, and commercial matters.

Giantomasi has served as chief development counsel on major New Jersey projects, including headquarters developments for Prudential Insurance Company and Panasonic North America. He has also advised projects involving Lionsgate Newark Studios, Netflix studios at the former Fort Monmouth Army base, Hudson Lights in Fort Lee, and mixed-use developments in Jersey City. His public service included serving as Essex County Counsel and as chief counsel to the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Francis J. Giantomasi has been recognized by Chambers USA for zoning and land use and by The Best Lawyers in America for real estate law. He has also received a New Jersey Law Journal Lifetime Achievement Award and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. His leadership includes service on healthcare, education, business, and real estate boards. He brings development knowledge, government experience, and practical judgment to complex New Jersey real estate matters.
