Erik J. Oblasser is a partner at Corthell and King, P.C., where he represents clients in family law, criminal defense, municipal law, and personal injury matters. Known for protecting parents and children during difficult times, he combines compassionate advocacy with strong trial skills, helping clients navigate complex and high-stakes legal challenges across Wyoming.
Originally from Germany, Erik earned his Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Georgia before completing his Juris Doctor at the University of Wyoming College of Law. While in law school, he worked with the Legal Services Clinic and externed at the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, experiences that fueled his dedication to representing clients in criminal and family law. He graduated as the clinic’s Outstanding Student of the Year.
Following law school, Erik served as an Assistant Public Defender in Casper, Wyoming. There, he gained valuable courtroom experience representing clients in misdemeanor, DUI, and felony cases, including homicide, drug conspiracy, and aggravated burglary. In 2014, he transitioned into private practice, and by 2015, he joined Corthell and King as a partner, continuing to represent clients in both state and federal courts.
Erik’s reputation is built on handling both family disputes and criminal defense matters with precision and care. He also contributes to the broader legal community through seminars, media commentary, and pro bono service with Equal Justice Wyoming. His proficiency in German and conversational Spanish further enhances his ability to serve a diverse range of clients.
