Elizabeth A. Kruska

Elizabeth A. Kruska is a criminal defense lawyer who founded her own law firm in Woodstock, Vermont. She represents clients in criminal cases, DUI defense, traffic matters, juvenile proceedings, and family court disputes. Her work serves individuals and families across central and southern Vermont. She established her firm in January 2017 after practicing for approximately twelve years with a law firm in White River Junction, where she handled a broad range of courtroom matters.

Kruska earned a B.S. in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan in 2000 and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 2004. She later returned to legal education as an adjunct professor. Since 2012, she has taught a course called Bail to Jail about criminal procedure, and she has taught an evidence lab focused on courtroom use of the rules of evidence. She also taught criminal justice ethics at Norwich University in 2017.

Kruska has handled thousands of criminal matters, ranging from traffic tickets and misdemeanors to murder, arson, sexual assault, and burglary cases. Her juvenile court experience includes delinquency proceedings, children in need of care or supervision matters, and termination of parental rights. She also assists clients with divorce, separation, child custody, child support, and related family issues. In criminal cases, her approach includes reviewing evidence, explaining court procedures, and discussing trial or negotiated resolutions.

Elizabeth A. Kruska has served on the Vermont Bar Association Board of Managers and on the boards of the Vermont Bar Foundation and New England Bar Association. She contributes writing and editing to SCOV Law, which discusses Vermont Supreme Court decisions. Alongside her criminal defense practice, her teaching and professional service reflect a continuing involvement in Vermont’s legal community and in helping lawyers and clients understand courtroom procedure.
