Drew H. Wrigley serves as the 30th Attorney General of North Dakota, bringing decades of experience in law enforcement, prosecution, and public leadership. A fourth-generation North Dakotan, he is dedicated to protecting the rights and safety of citizens across the state while ensuring the fair and effective administration of justice. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to public service, integrity, and strengthening North Dakota’s legal and civic institutions.
Wrigley earned his B.A. with honors in Economics and Philosophy from the University of North Dakota and his J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law. His education laid the foundation for a distinguished legal career that has spanned both state and federal service. Known for his analytical skill and leadership, he has held some of the most trusted legal positions in North Dakota and beyond.
Wrigley began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, where he gained extensive trial experience handling complex criminal cases. In 2001, he was appointed by President George W. Bush as the United States Attorney for North Dakota and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. After serving with distinction, he later returned to private industry as a vice president for a national Medicare and Medicaid contractor based in Fargo, providing compliance and regulatory oversight.
In 2018, Drew H. Wrigley made history when President Donald J. Trump nominated him again as U.S. Attorney, making him the first North Dakotan to serve twice in that role. Elected Attorney General in 2022, he now leads the North Dakota Department of Justice, focusing on law enforcement coordination, consumer protection, and upholding the rule of law statewide.
