Douglas G. Shook

Douglas G. Shook is a veteran civil trial attorney who has been practicing law since 1979, handling complex litigation matters with a strong emphasis on nursing home liability, personal injury, and wrongful death cases. His legal efforts are focused on helping individuals and families affected by negligence in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.

Douglas completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, earning a B.S. degree, and went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law. His academic background provided a solid legal foundation, which he has effectively built upon throughout more than four decades of courtroom practice in both state and federal jurisdictions across Arizona.

Douglas began his legal journey by defending insurance companies and their policyholders for over 24 years. He served as a partner at two firms: Broening Oberg Woods Wilson and Cass, and Doyle Appel and Shook. During his last eight years as a defense attorney, from 1996 to 2004, he focused exclusively on defending nursing homes. This experience gave him valuable insight into the strategies used by defendants in these cases, which now benefits the clients he represents.

Douglas later transitioned to representing plaintiffs, focusing on those who suffered serious harm due to negligence or misconduct. His practice includes trial work in medical malpractice, legal malpractice, insurance bad faith, government liability, and wrongful death cases. He has helped clients obtain justice in complex situations involving both physical injury and violations of legal responsibilities.

Douglas G. Shook is admitted to practice before the State Bar of Arizona, U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has represented clients in nearly every Superior Court in Arizona and has argued before the Arizona Courts of Appeals and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, building a reputation as a skilled and committed legal advocate.
