Dawn L. Carmody

Dawn L. Carmody has been practicing law in Texas since 1988, with a distinguished career rooted in litigation involving municipalities, public officials, and governmental entities. Her early legal work focused on defending clients in state tort cases, civil rights litigation, and law enforcement-related matters, making her a trusted name in public sector legal defense.

Dawn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University and her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law. These strong academic credentials laid the foundation for her versatile legal skillset and her in-depth understanding of governmental and constitutional law.

From 1990 to 2000, Dawn played a key role on the State Bar of Texas Planning Committee for the “Suing and Defending Governmental Entities” program. During that time, she published multiple legal articles and spoke regularly at continuing legal education (CLE) events, serving as program chair in 1999. She has also served as counsel of record in numerous appellate and Texas Supreme Court cases, as well as matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, reinforcing her reputation as a trusted and experienced Texas appellate lawyer.

In 2001, Dawn broadened her scope by becoming of counsel at a boutique bankruptcy law firm, where she represented creditors in bankruptcy and commercial disputes. Over the last decade, her practice has evolved to include commercial litigation, real estate transactions, business formation and compliance, employment law, and probate litigation.

Currently, Dawn L. Carmody represents small businesses, individuals, and partnerships in both litigation and transactional matters. She is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. A respected member of the State Bar of Texas and the San Antonio Bar Association, she continues to serve clients with diligence and expertise.
