David W. Veliz

David W. Veliz is the founder and owner of Veliz Katz Law in Maitland, Florida. He handles family law, probate, and estate planning matters for clients across Central Florida. His work often involves major changes in family life or plans for an estate. He gives direct advice from the first meeting through a case’s resolution, helping clients make informed legal choices about their families and estates.

David earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Central Florida in 1986 and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1989. He began his legal career in Florida the following year. In 1994, he founded his practice to place strong case preparation, accountability, and clear communication at the center of his work with clients during difficult family and estate matters in Central Florida.

Over more than 33 years, David has handled thousands of cases across Central Florida, including both contested and uncontested legal matters. His family law work covers divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, paternity, prenuptial agreements, and mediation. In probate, he handles estate administration, estate litigation, and fraudulent conveyance matters. His estate planning work includes wills, trusts, living wills, powers of attorney, and will contests.

David is a member of The Florida Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Hispanic Bar Association. He received recognition from Expertise in 2024 for divorce and child support law in Orlando and child support lawyers. He has appeared before local judges and worked with court-appointed professionals. He also leads attorneys, paralegals, and staff, placing close attention on thorough casework and regular client updates in every matter.

David W. Veliz has served as a Guardian ad Litem for children through the Legal Aid Society and as a member of its board. He also served on a Florida Bar Grievance Committee and regularly volunteers to assist children and families in need.
