David R. Del Re

David R. Del Re is the founding principal of Del Re Law Group, P.C., and one of Lake County’s most respected family law attorneys. With more than two decades of legal experience, he concentrates his practice on divorce and family law, including complex custody cases, domestic orders of protection, parental allocation, and appellate litigation. Known for his compassionate yet strategic representation, David has earned a reputation for achieving effective results for his clients through skilled advocacy and meticulous preparation.

David earned his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he served as a staff member of the Tulsa Law Journal. He received his B.A. from the University of Illinois–Chicago. His legal education, combined with early courtroom experience, laid the groundwork for his strong analytical and trial skills, which he applies daily in family and appellate courts across Illinois.

Before establishing his firm, David served in the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he became Chief of the Domestic Violence Courtroom. His experience prosecuting domestic violence cases gave him unique insight into the complex intersection of criminal and family law. Today, he uses that background to protect clients’ rights in emotionally charged and high-stakes family disputes. He has also argued before the Illinois Supreme Court, showcasing his expertise in appellate advocacy.

David R. Del Re’s professional accomplishments include recognition as a Leading Lawyer and Rising Star by Super Lawyers. He has been a frequent lecturer at legal seminars and holds leadership roles in several bar associations, including the Lake County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
