David G. Webbert is the Managing Partner at Johnson & Webbert, specializing in employment law, civil rights, and high-stakes litigation, including trials and appeals. With a career defined by groundbreaking cases and courtroom excellence, he is widely recognized as one of New England’s top attorneys. David graduated magna cum laude from Yale College in 1982 and from Harvard Law School in 1985, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.

David’s legal foundation includes clerking for Judge Kenneth W. Starr on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, followed by five years at a prominent boutique litigation firm in Washington, D.C. In 1998, he became President of the Maine Employment Lawyers Association, a role he continues to hold.

David has earned a reputation for delivering major legal victories. His casework includes multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements in discrimination, wrongful termination, and civil rights actions. His appellate victories include O’Connor v. Oakhurst Dairy, a nationally covered case involving the Oxford comma, and Abbott v. Bragdon, a landmark ADA case protecting individuals with HIV. Federal judges have repeatedly praised his work for its intelligence, diligence, and professionalism. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and a member of the American Law Institute.

David G. Webbert has also contributed to legal reform efforts and served on the Maine Federal Court’s Local Rules Advisory Committee for over two decades.
