David A. Donet, Jr.

David A. Donet, Jr. is a founding partner of Donet, McMillan & Trontz, P.A. whose primary practice is state and federal criminal defense. He represents individuals facing serious criminal allegations and brings extensive courtroom experience to defense strategy. His background as a former prosecutor gives him direct knowledge of charging decisions, evidence development, plea negotiations, jury trials, and the methods used by government attorneys in criminal cases.

David earned a B.A. in Political Science from Florida International University in 1994 and a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1997. During law school, he served on the Admissions Committee, led the Multi-Cultural Law Students Association, and received the Slutsky Family Scholarship. His education and leadership experience provided a strong foundation for trial advocacy, legal analysis, and criminal procedure.

David began his career at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases and moved into supervisory responsibilities. His trial work included violent crimes, murder, armed robbery, rape, drug trafficking, and complex evidence involving DNA, ballistics, gunshot residue, handwriting, and firearm identification. He has participated in more than seventy-five criminal jury trials and later handled white collar defense and complex civil defense matters.

David A. Donet, Jr. applies his prosecutorial and defense experience to serious criminal cases in state and federal court. His work has included defending individuals accused of violent offenses, white collar crimes, fraud, and other high-stakes charges. His background supports detailed evidence review, informed trial preparation, and strategic decisions based on years of experience examining criminal cases from the perspectives of the prosecution and the defense.
