About

Alvin Adjei is the managing partner of the Houston office of HKM Employment Attorneys LLP. He represents employees in employment law disputes involving workplace rights and the obligations of employers. His practice follows earlier work in personal injury litigation and criminal prosecution, giving him experience with several forms of contested legal proceedings. He helps workers address employment concerns through legal assessment, preparation, and representation in disputes that may require litigation.

Alvin earned a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 and a J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in 2012. While in law school, he organized a team that won the Midwest regional National Black Law Students Association Mock Trial Tournament and advanced to the national competition. He also received the Jon Krupnick Award for excellence in trial advocacy in 2012. This training helped establish the litigation skills used throughout his legal career.

Alvin served with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office from 2013 to 2016, trying misdemeanor and felony cases. He became Chief of County Criminal Court 6 and supervised prosecutors handling matters that included DWI and family assault. From 2016 to 2018 he represented personal injury plaintiffs at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz. He then practiced as a partner at Burritt Adjei PLLC from 2018 to 2022 before moving into his current employment law role.

Alvin Adjei has received Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars recognition and has held leadership positions with the Houston Young Lawyers Association, including its presidency in 2021–2022. He also co-edited the Harris County Bench Book in 2020 and authored a book about professional development in law. His career reflects experience in prosecution, injury litigation, and employee representation. He brings that courtroom background to work involving employees who need guidance on their legal rights at work.
