About
Daniel S. “Chip” McQueeney, Jr. serves as Counsel in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group, advising clients on real estate transactions, land use, and municipal law. He handles purchase and sale contracts, development agreements, planned unit developments, and easements. Chip also counsels numerous public entities across South Carolina, guiding them through transactions and regulatory matters involving zoning, environmental permitting, and land development while protecting their interests in complex negotiations and disputes.
Chip earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Furman University. Following law school, he worked at the South Carolina Court of Appeals for two years, gaining valuable insight into appellate practice. His education and early professional experience gave him a strong foundation for handling complex litigation and transactional matters, both for private parties and public entities.
Chip has argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the Supreme Court of South Carolina, and the South Carolina Court of Appeals. His practice includes negotiating easements for public utilities and handling real estate transactions as in-house counsel for one of the largest municipalities in South Carolina. Recognized for his work, he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation since 2026, demonstrating his professional skill and dedication.
Beyond his legal practice, Daniel S. “Chip” McQueeney, Jr. remains active in professional and civic activities. He was selected as a Riley Fellow in the Lowcountry Diversity Leaders Initiative at the Riley Institute. He is a long-serving member of the Exchange Club of Charleston, where he has held leadership positions and earned multiple honors. He is also involved with the Huguenot Society of South Carolina and Providence Church, contributing to both professional advancement and community engagement.
