Daniel J. Ballintine

Daniel J. Ballintine is a Shareholder at Larkin Hoffman Daly & Lindgren Ltd. with 25 years of experience in employment and business litigation. He represents employers in disputes involving noncompete agreements, trade secrets, discrimination, sexual harassment, overtime, FMLA claims, wrongful termination, and workplace issues. He also handles temporary restraining order matters, advises human resources professionals, and serves as general counsel to businesses across healthcare, construction, manufacturing, retail, senior care, and service industries.

Daniel earned his B.A., cum laude, in Economics from Carleton College in 1993 and completed part of his studies at King’s College, Cambridge University. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1995. He was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1995 and is also admitted before the US District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Daniel has represented clients in jury trials, summary judgment proceedings, and emergency injunction matters involving restrictive covenants, trade secret misappropriation, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and Fair Credit Reporting Act claims. His experience includes securing temporary restraining orders, defending employers in discrimination and termination cases, and prosecuting claims against former employees who joined competing businesses. He also serves as an employment arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and was part of the trial team in State by Humphrey v. Philip Morris.

Daniel J. Ballintine is an MSBA Certified Labor & Employment Law Specialist and was among the first Minnesota attorneys to receive that certification in 2010.
